The Costa del Sol is very well served by international flights into Malaga and Gibraltar ; there are also airports at Seville and Jerez (and Granada if you would like to “do” the Alhambra and Cordoba first). Road connections from all these airports are excellent via the Autopista del Mediterraneo (AP7) and connecting motorways.
Flights
Malaga and Gibraltar are the nearest international airports.
Although Gibraltar is closer (30 kms by road – 20 miles), there are fewer flights and the complications of crossing the border and of hiring a car are such that Malaga is generally a quicker point of entry. Monarch and British Airways use Gibraltar (see links Below).
Malaga Airport (100kms, - 1hr drive). There are numerous low cost airlines (eg Easyjet, Jet2, Ryanair etc. - see links below) and also a very large number of car hire companies. All the major car hire companies are represented, but we have used two local companies, Tonys Rent a Car (see link) and Malaga Car Hire (see link) for some years and have found them reliable. Tony’s will meet you off the flight and the formalities are straightforward and quick. Malaga Car Hire is right by the airport and although you have to get their airport bus to their offices they are cheaper than Tony’s and sometimes have a wider range of cars. Driving Licences for all drivers are necessary and you should order car/booster seats for any child under 5 years’ old.
From the airport follow the signs onto the AP7/E15 signposted west to Algeciras and Cadiz and keep on the AP7 (toll motorway) until you see the Manilva/Casares/Gaucin exit at km 142. Detailed instructions on finding us and collecting the keys will be provided when we receive your final holiday payment.

Malaga Airport Guide
By road or rail
If you are coming by road from Ronda we can supply details of how to find us from Ronda/Gaucin.
Some of our guests arrive in Madrid and either: fly to Malaga; hire a car and drive down; or catch the train. If you are flying to Malaga, then the above directions will find us.
If you are driving down from anywhere in Europe/England/Morocco we can supply instructions for finding us but basically you head for the AP7 and take the exit at km.142 as above.
If you are thinking of catching the train from Madrid , there is an excellent high-speed train that will get you to Malaga in well under four hours ( 2.75 hours is the fastest train). So, Madrid is possible in a day from here. But if you are arriving at Madrid international airport (generally after a long international flight) we strongly recommend that you either do the sights of Madrid for a few days and catch the train down to Malaga, and then hire a car; or that you catch a connecting flight from Madrid International directly to Malaga. We are 500 kms (300+ miles) from Madrid and it takes us at least five hours of shared driving to make the journey to the villa.
